Courage to Thrive: 2021 IVCF Annual Corporation Meeting

Quezon City – IVCF Philippines held its virtual Annual Corporation Meeting for the second year now. The corporation members gathered on Saturday, August 28, 2021 for the two-part event. The first segment was a worship service. Bishop Efraim Tendero, Global Ambassador of World Evangelical Alliance, lent his time as the guest speaker. Anchoring on the Corporation Meeting’s theme, “Courage to Thrive” and on John 16: 33, Bishop Tendero expounded on Jesus’ three prescriptions to thrive: 1. “Recognize Jesus as our sacrificial Shepherd,” 2. “Relate with Him as our sublime Shepherd,” and 3. “Revere Him as our sovereign Shepherd.” “With Jesus as our Shepherd,” Tendero concluded, “IVCFers, we have the courage to thrive. Let’s put our trust and our confidence in Him.”

Business meeting ensued after the worship service. Quorum was declared with 277 members present (plus 77 absent but with proxy) out of the 480 registered Corporation members. The meeting included reports of the Board Chairman, the Board Treasurer, and of the National Director; and the election of new Board of Trustees (BOT) members.  Ms. Ivanna Dela Peña, IVCF Board of Trustees Chairman, expressed in her report, “We have the courage to thrive because we serve the true and living God, the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow!” In addition, BOT Treasurer Dr. Nora Lucero’s report centered on God’s provision the past year that despite the pandemic, IVCF had a positive net income balance. Her insight into God’s character was spot on: “He specializes on the impossible to show that He is Sovereign, Supreme, Almighty God.”

IVCF National Director Florina “Di” Fernandez reported on the goings on of the ministry. While there was a significant dip in number of students and chapters due to the lockdowns, the IVCF staff team continued to disciple and train student-leaders. While face-to-face camps were banned, online camps opened the way for national-level trainings and summits. “We have survived. We have adapted. And we continue to change. Because God is FAITHFUL,” Ms. Fernandez summarized.

The Corporation also approved the June 2021-May 2022 Budget of 25 million pesos, or 44% increase of last year’s actual income.

Moreover, the Board of Trustees acknowledged the BOT members whose terms have ended; namely, Engr. Edcyl Lopez, Dr. Nora Lucero, and Rev. Jose “Lito” Wang. In their stead, five BOT nominees were presented: Ms. Donna Mijares, Senior High School Teacher and STEM Strand Coordinator; Alfredo Diaz, Principal of UP High School in Iloilo and Pastor at God of Glory Christian Church; Ms. Leonora Gonzales, Professorial Lecturer at UP Diliman College of Mass Communication and Consultant of World Bank; Dr. Ida Ingrid Tulagan, a Neurologist with affiliations in several hospitals; and Rev. Jose “Lito” Wang, Resident Pastor of Life Gospel Church. Diaz, Tulagan and Gonzales were elected into the Board of Trustees. The Board then elected its new set of officers (periods refer to number of years to serve as BOT, not as to the position):
