We’re back! Though apologies are in order as it took a long time for me / us to connect with you again. It had been a busy few months as I traveled to several countries doing different things, the latest of which was a trip to Mongolia for the East Asia General Secretaries’ meeting (and celebrating with FCS, the IFES movement in Mongolia, on their 20th anniversary).
I am sure you will agree with me when I say that time has flown very fast! Wasn’t it just yesterday we welcomed in the new year? And now it is October, and 2019 will soon come to a close. But, whether time was fast or slow, one truth remains: God continues to be loving and faithful to each of us, and to our movement.
Indeed, God has been very faithful to IVCF Philippines. Rejoice with us that: Last school year, 679 students passed from death to life (!) when they accepted Christ as Savior and Lord, while a total of 2,993 moved along the IVCF discipleship process. This is not just some statistic, but each number represents a student that has been touched and transformed by God, and we are doing our best to nurture and train each of them to be better Christ-followers.
After more than two years of hiatus because of the additional 2 years in high school (K-12) and change in university schedule (from June school opening to August), IVCF chapter meetings are beginning to normalize. Please continue praying that schools/universities will have just one opening schedule (August?), which would really help staff in scheduling meetings, camps and events.
The Inter-Varsity Graduates have re-organized and have signed up to host the IFES East Asia Graduates’ Conference in 2022. The last time IVCF Philippines hosted a big international event was in 1989 (IFES East Asia Regional Conference) – 30 years ago! It’s an encouragement to note that our graduates feel they are now ready to take on such responsibility.
The first tranche of the staff salary rationalization / increase was given this August. Praise God indeed! This is a big encouragement to all staff.
In spite of the heavy rains / storm, we had a very encouraging Corporation Meeting and a total of 161 members were present. Sharing with you some photos of the event below…
