Summer!! It’s not just holiday time or going to the beach – it is also camp time!  What reminds you of camp? What camp memories are most poignant? Was it your counselors, the friends you found, the mess hall banquets, the fun recreation times, the “Pista sa Nayon,” the times alone with God where you heard Him speak very clearly, the life decisions you made? What foods do you still remember and relish decades later?

What was memorable for me was going to my first-ever ISCF (high school) camp in Murcia, Negros Occidental when I was 12, riding on a rickety six-by-six truck up the mountain, with deep ravines on one side of the road, playing a game of “I see…” – if it was a school, government office, police station, you rack up points but then all your points turn to zero once you pass a cemetery! Simple, but hilariously fun! It was in that camp where I learned to do my “quiet time / QT” (time alone with God) sitting on my favorite rock watching the sun rise, armed with my Bible and notebook. That basic spiritual discipline, among others, continues to be taught and practiced in all the IVCF camps.

So, if you were to send your children/students to a camp, what would you want for them, what take-away experiences and lessons do you want them to bring to their life? Do pray that God would indeed use the following camps to deepen these students’ love for Him, His Word and His world.

HIGH SCHOOL EVANGELISTIC CAMPS

Our high school evangelistic camps are called Sibol Camps. “Sibol” is a Tagalog word meaning to sprout, to grow. It is our hope that as high schoolers listen to God’s word, experience camp life and interact with counselors and other campers, their understanding about God will grow and they will be brought closer to Him and eventually acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior. The different regions have their own schedules for camps:

CENTRAL & EASTERN VISAYAS

March 29-31 – Seguinon National High                 School, Albuera, LeyteApril 15-19 – Sibol & Discipleship Camp               Negros Oriental Area

May 6-10 – Sibol & Discipleship Camp                   Bohol Area

May 27-31 – Sibol & Discipleship Camp                 Leyte Area

HIGH SCHOOL DISCIPLESHIP & LEADERSHIP CAMPS

As you can see, it’s going to be a very busy summer for all staff – preparing not just the program, curriculum, logistics, raising funds for camp subsidy, helping students raise funds for registration fees, preparing for their speaking assignments, coordinating/training volunteers, etc. Please pray with us for:

1. strength, perseverance and patience as we serve in different ways, joyfully.
2. wisdom and His anointing as speakers, volunteers and staff prepare their talks.
3. God-ordained conversations that will lead to deeper love and understanding of God.
4. safety in travel for staff, volunteers, speakers and students.
5. God’s provision for each of the camps – it is an opportunity for us to see how God will provide as we continue to trust Him. both for the staff and students.
